HIRING HALL RULES & REGULATIONS
All registrants who have paid the fees to use the Union Hiring Hall, who are out of work and who are available for work, shall be put on the list they qualify for. The A, B, C AND D list registrants may register at only one Local Hall at one time, and only on one list (the one you qualify for).
Members shall retain their number on the out of work list if they take a job that lasts less than 5 days. They will lose their number after their next referral, regardless of the second referral's length. Local 242 will still have one day concrete calls that will have nothing to do with the 5 day rule, unless the employer keeps him or her more than 1 day.
Other reasons for losing your number are:
• IF YOU GET FIRED.
• IF YOU QUIT.
• IF THE COMPANY REPLACES YOU BECAUSE YOU COULD NOT PERFORM YOUR WORK.
• FAILURE OF SUBSTANCE ABUSE PROGRAMS.
• WEEKLY CHECK-IN FOR ROLL-CALL — IF YOU FAIL TO TIMELY HOLD YOUR NUMBER ON THE OUT-OF-WORK LIST. (YOU MUST NOTIFY SOMEONE IN THE OFFICE TO HOLD YOUR NUMBER.)
If you lose your number for any of the above reasons, you will be placed on the bottom of the list from which you were dispatched. This hall, Local 242, will abide by all State, Federal, and Local Affirmative Action Programs that are adhered to by all Locals.
ROLL CALL IS EVERY MONDAY @ 8:30 AM.
The office is open from 6:00 am to 4:45 pm, Monday through Friday. We're closed from 12 pm to 1 pm for lunch. The office telephone number is 206-441-0470.
If you should have any questions about the Hiring Hall Rules and Regulations, please ask at the dispatch window.
